Mountain Dew Apple Cinnamon Dumplings: A Pinch of Glitter

Oh. My. Gosh.

Just looking at a photo of this food makes my mouth water.   Just wait until you smell it.  Then, just wait until you taste it.   I’m telling you guys, this is heaven on a dish right here.

Who would have ever thought that Mountain Dew (yeah…we’re talkin’ soda) would be delicious with apples!?  And sugar.  And butter.  And all the other things in here that are probably going to make me die prematurely.

We aren’t huge soda drinkers at our house.  I kept telling my husband that we had to buy Mountain Dew (I knew for a while that I wanted to make this for this month’s dessert challenge), but I kept forgetting to do it.  And, I only needed one can.  We wouldn’t drink the other cans if we had them.  I kept forgetting to get the soda, and I think that my husband wasn’t too excited about this recipe after the multiple trips to the grocery store (the life of a food blogger..right?!)

Well, once he took one bite of this, I think all his doubts went away.  This is my husband’s new favorite dessert.  He has requested it for his birthday even (birthday meals are super special at our house!).  So, I promise you that even with a unique ingredient, this recipe is worth it!

My daughter was looking over my shoulder at the list of participants and when we saw the name of your dessert, we HAD to come look at it. (Mt. Dew is big at this house.)

    • I don’t think that club soda would work so well. It needs to be a citrus soda to get the right flavor. Sprite or 7-Up would work! Don’t use diet either, you need the sugar in the soda as well!

  2. I don’t drink soda but my husband has had a can of Mountain Dew in the fridge for a month now. Looks like I know how to get rid of it! What a neat recipe.

  3. This sounds so fun & easy. My kids would be able to “help” me :) Thanks for sharing at Sweet & Savory Saturdays #30.
