I went to the store this last week to pick up some much needed Halloween decorations. I was greeted in the store by Christmas trees, snowflakes and stockings. WHAT!? It’s still SEPTEMBER people!! The Christmas decor had the majority of the seasonal section, and the Halloween decor got an aisle and a half. An aisle of which was candy. *sigh* In twenty years, Halloween may not even exist anymore.
Well, I took the aisle and a half that I had very seriously. I found a beautiful fall garland to hang in my home, and I can’t wait to get it up!
Heaven knows I didn’t need any Halloween candy, but I looked anyway And I’m happy that I did! I stumbled upon some Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s Kisses. What a treat! I had been wanting to make some snickerdoodles for a while as well, and right away I knew what I would be able to do with the kisses. Snickerdoodles + Pumpkin Spice Kisses = Pure Bliss.
I love biting into the cookie and getting a little surprise! When my husband walked in after I had made them. I just told him what they were called, and he said “Mmm,” but once he took and bite and found the center, he looked at me, wide eyed and mumbled “Mmmmmm!!!! These are good!” Husband approved.
Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups Sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
2-3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup sugar + 2 tsp. cinnamon)
1 bag Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, mix sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs.
2. Stir in flour, pumpkin pie spice, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
3. Grab a rounded teaspoon of dough and flatten the dough in your palm.
4. Place a Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s Kiss in the center of the dough, and wrap the dough around the kiss forming a ball.
5. Roll the ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 400 for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
7. Remove cookies from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
Pumpkin, spice and snickerdoodles all in one? That’s three of my favorite food groups! :O)
These cookies look so yummy! I love snicker doodles, what a great twist!
Thanks

Pingback: Super Sunday Link Party #17
I made these last week but I kinda cheated since I was running short on time. I bought some Pillsbury sugar cookie dough instead of making it and then followed the rest of your recipe. They were great! They turned out a little flat-probably cuz of the dough-but they were fantastic! What a genius idea!!!
Basically I ate half the tray before my husband even got home. He loved them too and the next day, he brought them to the office to share. Thanks Lori!
Woot! You have been featured this week at Recipe Sharing Monday! The new link party is up and I’d love to see you back. Have a great week.
