Purple Cow

Purple Cow: A Pinch of Glitter
I am seriously so confused as to what season it is right now.

I feel like it’s Fall because everything on now is pumpkin related.  (Anyone else feel the same way??  I have some great pumpkin recipes planned…it has just been too early for me so far.)  And school has started, it’s starting to get darker just a bit earlier…everyone is just in the Fall mood!!

But.  I feel like it’s Summer because I walk outside in the middle of the day and it’s still SO hot!  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE summer weather.  I wish it was Summer year-round!  But why is it so hot if everyone is telling me it’s Fall already?!   Well, my DIY Glittered Seasonal Wall Hanging is still telling me that it’s Summer…so I think that wins

Let’s just have one last Summer “Hurrah!” while we can, shall we??  Let’s enjoy the last few days of Summer before they creep away from us and we’re in the dreaded months of Winter (that’s how I feel at least, Winter lasts the majority of the year where I live).

For this occasion I am bringing you this recipe today.  I’m not sure if I should even call it a “recipe”…but just a twist on an old classic: the Root Beer Float.  A Purple Cow is simply a Root Beer Float but made with grape soda instead of root beer.

Let me tell you: it is so delicious!  I think that sometimes root beer floats can get a little cliche.   They’re good, but never terribly exciting.  But a Purple Cow is a very refreshing twist on the cold creamy treat, and I guarantee that you can’t go wrong.  If you want to experiment, try it with any of your other favorite sodas as well (another favorite of mine is orange soda!).

Enjoy your last few days of Summer while you can!

Purple Cow

1 can (12 oz.) grape soda
3-4 scoops vanilla ice cream

  1. Lori,

This looks really good. Though it’s going to take a lot of persuasion to use grape soda rather than root beer. Thanks for sharing and uploading new stuff to your blog. I love reading your posts. Hope all is well. Your are missed at the UWRL.

  2. Grape soda is so good! Never thought of making a float with it! Thanks for sharing at Sweet & Savory Saturdays #29.
