German Glass Glittered Pumpkins n’ Leaves

Glittered Pumpkins n' Leaves: A Pinch of Glitter
You guys.  I’m pretty sure that if it weren’t for all of the decorations that start going up this time of year, I would be clinically depressed.

I am such a lover of the sunshine.  I feel like suddenly I blinked and the days are super short.  This post took me a day longer to publish than I anticipated just because of the darn sun going down early (you’ve gotta take photos with natural light…you know?).

I want to move to somewhere where there are no winters, but at the same time, not painfully hot summers.  I can stand 100 degrees okay, but I don’t think I could stand 120 for a whole season.  Any ideas on where I should live?  My husband and I will potentially be open to options within the next few years :)

Anyway, since right now I have to deal with the days becoming cold and dark, I just have to find a way to put up with it.  My answer?  Happy, festive decorations with GLITTER!

I looked around my house today, and I have one holiday decoration that does not have glitter on it.  ONE!

However, I have always been known to be the picky one in my family.  We’re not just talking food, but with everything.

Glittered Pumpkins n' Leaves: A Pinch of GlitterHere are two things I am really picky with regarding Halloween decorations: 1) I only like the cute decorations, not the scary  ones.  2) I don’t really like glittered pumpkins.  As in, pumpkins that are 100% covered in glitter.

I’ll elaborate on #2.  You see.  I HATE fake pumpkins.  They look so…fake!  When fake pumpkins come out that actually look real, maybe my opinion will change.  When a pumpkin (be it a real or fake pumpkin) is covered completely in glitter, it just gets this cheap look to me.  I like to see the real thing.

BUT!  I like to see glitter too!  As you can obviously tell, I was in a dilemma.  Then, one night I was laying in bed, and realized that I already had my answer.  Back when I created my Glittered Seasonal Wall Hangings, on the Autumn pumpkins I only glittered on the indents of the pumpkins, leaving most of the pumpkin exposed.   This was perfect for me.  It’s like I got to have my cake and eat it too.

I went just a bit further and copied the idea to glitter some leaves to make a complete display, and it turned out beautifully!  I couldn’t be more pleased with my Fall set-up.
Glittered Pumpkins n' Leaves: A Pinch of Glitter In this project I used German Glass Glitter from Meyer Imports.  I just absolutely love the unique sparkle and shine that this glitter gives that I haven’t been able to find with any other glitter.  My pumpkins and leaves sparkle from across the room!

I love that I can find any color I need from Meyer Imports without difficulty.  Autumn Hues are so broad, yet specific…and Meyer Imports has it all!  I wasn’t left in a rut with a lack of colors, like I may have been if I were to buy my glitter from a craft store.

Glitter from Meyer Imports will be perfect for this project, or for any of your crafting needs!

I love these pumpkins! I totally agree with you on not liking scary Halloween decorations and fake pumpkins – but yours are adorable! I love the whole Autumn scene you setup here. Where did you find the mini pumpkins? Can I get them at any craft store? :)

    • Hey Allia! Those are actually real pumpkins! I know they will only last one season, but I don’t feel too bad about it because they didn’t use very much glitter at all, and they took me about 10 minutes to make. I’m sure you could find something at a craft store that is similar, but like I mentioned, I like the real deal
