Pretzel Sparklers

Pretzel SparklersWhenever my husband I have a little extra change and we decide to pick out a treat from the store, I always go for something sweet, and he always goes for something salty.  We rarely go to the movies, but when we do, I’m snacking on the candy, while he’s chowing down the popcorn.  We seem to always have a good supply of pretzels in our home (for the salt lover) and a very good supply of chocolate (for me…the sugar lover).  That being said, it really didn’t take us too long to discover the joy that chocolate covered pretzels brings to us.  It’s the best of both (salty & sweet) worlds!

Besides being good, chocolate covered pretzels are so easy to make.  All you have to do is melt chocolate, dip, and let it set!  Viola!  Could it be any easier?!

Pretzel Sparklers 3Another thing that I love about chocolate covered pretzels is how you can make them fit to any occasion.  I love making them for Christmas time (easy and fast neighbor gift!) and during the summertime when it’s hot.  Or, dipping them in caramel and then chocolate (my favorite!).

These pretzels I dipped in white chocolate and then rolled in red white and blue sprinkles to make them look like 4th of July sparklers!  They are so much fun, and there are so many other things out there that you can do (the possibilities are endless – have fun!)

Pretzel Sparklers 2Pretzel Sparklers
Ingredients:
1 bag Pretzel Rods
1 bag white chocolate chips
Red White and Blue Sprinkles (jimmies)

Directions:
1.  Melt the chocolate in the microwave (Heat at 50% power.  Stir every 30 seconds until melted.)
2.  Cover a plate with a layer of sprinkles.
3.  Dip a pretzel rod in chocolate (don’t make it too think or it will glob up in the sprinkles)
4. Immediately roll the pretzel on the plate of sprinkles until fully covered.
5.  Place on a sheet of wax paper to set.
6. Enjoy!

  2. WOW! So simple yet so colorful and yummy. Great recipe Lory. I am sure we don’t get pretzel rods here in my country. I will try looking for them but if I don’t get them, I am going to ask one of my friends who will be visiting us within the next couple months to bring these things for me from the US. Can’t wait to make them. Thank you very much. Cheers, Rema
